Driving health equity in resource-constrained settings, COP30 highlights, and more

And just like that, we’re at the end of another year! Before you close your laptop, we’re dropping in with one more Hub Digest. Thank you for reading along this year—. if you want to catch up on any activity in the Hub, check out the previous Digests for highlights. Happy holidays and “see” you next year!

Hub User Spotlight

Our final spotlight of the year is Esmond Wedam Nonterah, a dedicated public health professional with a master’s degree in population studies. His work focuses on leveraging data and community engagement to drive health equity in resource-constrained settings—particularly in Ghana and other parts of West Africa.

What are your interests? My interests include population health, non-communicable diseases, climate health, implementation science, and mixed methods research. I am passionate about understanding the social determinants of health and developing innovative strategies to prevent and manage diseases in low-resource settings. I am also interested in exploring the intersections of global health, planetary health, and One Health approaches.

What are you working on that most excites you? I am currently serving as a volunteer researcher and project lead for the West African Planetary Health Alliance, where I am working to advance planetary health research and initiatives in the region.

What do you welcome Hub users to connect with you about? As a member of the Mentoring Research Network, a fellow of the Design Equity and Action Leadership (DEAL) Fellowship, and the West African Institute of Public Health, I am eager to engage with others who share my passion for global health and planetary health. I am particularly interested in discussing opportunities for capacity building, knowledge sharing, and networking in the areas of public health, climate health, and implementation science. I am also open to exploring PhD opportunities that align with my research interests and career goals.

There’s Still Time: Coffee and Conversations Input

As we plan for next year’s gatherings, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’ve joined a Coffee and Conversations call in the past or not, please take a few minutes to complete our survey on how these conversations can be more meaningful and accessible.

While you’re at it, feel free to suggest topics for next year. Share anything you’d like to discuss with fellow Hub users—we’re all ears!

Thanks in advance and we look forward to seeing you on a call next year!

You’re invited: Help co-create the future of Nova’s digital communities

After three years of sparking connection and dialogue around transformative ideas in health and flourishing, the Nova Integration Hub will be closing on November 12, 2026. We’re currently in the lab developing new online community building initiatives—and you’re invited to help shape what comes next.

From the beginning, the Hub was created as a communal space that would help break down silos and foster dialogue across disciplines. It has been an experiment in connecting the dots, and with over 42 member-created groups and 654 active discussions, it has been a meaningful gathering place—a space where so many of you have generously shared ideas, wisdom, and inspiration in service of a more integrated and compassionate approach to health and well‑being. That spirit will carry forward into our next chapter.

As we look ahead, our goal is simple: Continue to pilot innovative forums for broad audiences to engage with researchers, creatives, educators, clinicians, policymakers, advocates, community organizers, journalists—anyone who wants to make a change in the world. We want to provide welcoming opportunities for conversation that will foster belonging rather than othering. We want to make unexpected connections that will lead us to the next bold leaps forward in health. Above all, we aim to spark joy and optimism about what’s possible for the planet we share.

So, where shall we go next? Your feedback about the Hub is extraordinarily meaningful to us, so please RSVP to attend one of our upcoming virtual town halls on Wednesday, November 4 at 3 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time and Thursday, November 12 at 3 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time. You may also submit comments in writing via our community listening form.

On behalf of the entire Nova team, we’re grateful for your participation, your curiosity, and your eagerness to share your perspectives on the Hub. Please visit Nova’s website at novainstituteforhealth.org and subscribe to our newsletter for the latest updates.
